About the Art of Reading
The Art of Reading is sponsored by the Board of Trustees of the Middle Georgia Regional Library. Initially, the program was held in cooperation and support of the Bibb County School District. In 2022, the program was opened to all students who attended school in Bibb County with plans to expand to all students who attend school in the counties MGRL serves.Students are encouraged to read a book and create a work of art inspired by the book. The purpose of the Art of Reading is to support literacy development through the arts.
Each year the winners of the competition are celebrated with a reception debuting their artwork and are presented with awards. The artwork will then begin a tour through the Macon-Bibb libraries in which they will be displayed throughout the rest of the year before being permanently housed and displayed at Washington Memorial Library.
We would like to thank the students, their parents, and their teachers for participating in this year's Art of Reading competition and encourage all participants and their supporters to continue fostering a life-long love of reading.
